Baby Bundle

So as of lately I haven't been working on anything too complicated. I got a couple orders in around the same time and decided to go with the least complicated and most time sensitive project which would be for an anxiously anticipated baby. :) So I knitted up this sweet little bunny and a matching roll brim hat. I love making sets like this. (please excuse the picture. It was taken with my phone. The green is more of a limey green.)

I never thought that I would be very big on knitted toys because if its for a baby... more than likely it will go in their mouth. But my good friend Charlotte made one for my daughter, Saiya and it has turned out to be the best toy for her and her favorite! She made the bunny using a pattern from the book "Vintage Knits for Modern Babies" and of course I had to have it! lol

I have made 3 of them and left the face and tail off a couple of them because I think they look just as cute without and not to mention... if it is going in their mouth and they are starting to cut teeth... I would hate for something to come loose and end up in their mouth. I'm certain though that I will be making plenty more and will be doing some fun add ons to them to girly them up or give them a boyish touch. :)

In case you were wondering and haven't seen these pictures already... these two pictures were taken of my daughter by my sister, Carrie. She is an incredible photographer and has such a talent! These pictures capture much of what I love which is my fair skinned, chunk of a precious baby girl, knitted goodies made by a much loved GodMomma Charlotte, and all captured by an incredible woman that I have always admired and looked up to. How did I ever become so blessed? :)

If you are interested in purchasing a custom made bunny/hat set please contact me at sereknittyandpurls@hotmail.com . Or if you have something in mind... let me know and I can figure something out for you!

I hope that you all are having a great day and that you are feeling as blessed as I am right now.

Love you all!

Home decor- a tasty snack for my cats

I have two cats.
Both are cute and both eat things they shouldn't.
LaLa likes to eat plastic grocery sacks.
Steve... well.... she is the larger cat out of the two and she enjoys eating (but is not limited to) the following:

shower curtains
tape of any kind
bed skirts
ribbon- paper or fabric
fake plants
dead leaves
Table Clothes

Both cats do enjoy and eat cat food on a daily, self serve basis.
And both cats enjoy nibbling at yarn.

So needless to say it have a hard time really wanting to decorate much in my apartment because for the most part I don't know if it will be eaten.
But if I knew for sure that my things would be unmarked by cat teeth I would be more inclined to knit for home.

I love this lamp! I think it is super cute and super creative!
AND could probably go uneaten :)

I love the detail on this clock! I never ever EVER thought of this!
This would go on the wall obviously and will not be accessible to the kitties.

This is crocheted. I realize this but I love it anyway :)
This will not be eaten but I anticipate that it would collect hair... like everything else.

Love knitted bowls! and can be pretty simple to make!

I've never seen stools like this before and thought that they look fun!
I personally wouldn't knit one...
In fear of a cat chewing on the corners.
Maybe Someday though!

This. Is. Awesome.

I would love a yarny home!
Pretty sure this summer I will be working on place mats, bowls, lampshades, and other fun little projects to cozy up my home that may not be so tempting to the furbabies.

I hope that you all are having a great week so far!
Love you All!

World Wide Knit in Public Day

Did you know there was such a thing?!

I didn't know until I became a knitter a little over two years ago!

Granted this event has only been around for about 5 years but still... I had no clue!

Where: Dancing Sheep Yarn and Fiber (Downtown 2nd st. Next to the sandwich bar)

When: June 11th

What time: 11-4

What to expect: Lots of knitting and snacks
Be sure to bring any snack foods you'd like and any preferred beverage. I'm sure there will be some food provided for you to snack on but just in case you want something special or have a big appetite... please feel free to bring something nummy!

Don't forget a comfortable chair to ensure you have a place to sit!

I'm sure you won't have a problem finding something to knit seeming as every knitter I know has more than one project going at a time.

(I'm pretty sure I have like 5)

There is also talks of Yarnbombing

(which was written about in the last post)
That is currently being checked out with the City of Casper to make sure we aren't violating anything or stepping on any toes but I can't imagine that it would be a problem!

I sure hope That you all had a Happy Christ Is Risen/Easter Day!

Love you All

Yarnbomb-om-om

Wikipedia says the following: Yarn bombing, yarnbombing, graffiti knitting, guerrilla knitting, or yarnstorming is a type of graffiti or street art that employs colorful displays of knitted or crocheted cloth rather than paint or chalk. While yarn installations – called yarn bombs or yarnstorms – may last for years, they are considered non-permanent, and, unlike graffiti, can be easily removed if necessary. The practice is believed to have originated in the U.S. with Texas knitters trying to find a creative way to use their leftover and unfinished knitting projects, but it has since spread worldwide. While other forms of graffiti may be expressive, decorative, territorial, socio-political commentary, advertising or vandalism, yarn bombing is almost exclusively about reclaiming and personalizing sterile or cold public places.
Here are a few fun pictures that I found in regards to this ridiculously awesome activity!

And I should have known that you can "like" it on facebook! You can click here to look at the facebook page that has been set up for yarnboming!

You'll have the opportunity to take part in a yarnbombing during Worldwide Knit in public day at the Dancing Sheep Yarn and Fiber in June!

I'll be posting another blog about that so stay tuned!

Love you all!!

Stuff and Things

Currently I am knitting with this yarn. It is Malabrigo's Merino Wool Silk which is a super soft combination and one of my favorites to knit with!

And this would be the colorway. An awesome mix of purples, peaches, yellows, and sage. I would have to say that Malabrigo is one of my favorite to knit with just based on the fact that they always have such awesome color combinations on their variegated yarns.

Whatever I am making with this will be posted on my etsy shop soon! So keep your eyes on the lookout for a Sereknitty and Purls creation! Also... In my blogging life :) I have come across some fun blogs. All are an expression of craftiness and at least two of them are more knitting focused! http://heberteveryday.wordpress.com

But yes. These are my fun recommendations if you are interested or are just wanting something to read to pass the time.

Thanks for reading and I love you all!!

Do It Yourself

I enjoy new artsy crafty things. and It seems that I find a lot of things online that I love but don't purchase due to cost. But I figured that if I can't buy it pre-made then there may be a way to make it myself. I was looking through my saved "favorites" of some DIY tutorials that I thought would be fun to share with you all. I have a few old t-shirts that I don't wear and came across this idea to recycle them...

You can find out how to do this to your t-shirts by clicking here

I do enjoy baking and came across this cute little idea on Etsy. I actually made these little guys for my family for Christmas this last year but did not use the sucker sticks because I did not have any and they did not turn out near as cute. From what I hear though.... they were yummy. :)

You can find out how to make these buy clicking here

Now I saw these cute little things called dorset buttons on another blog that I read from time to time but at the time did not know that was what they were called. They are quite time consuming starting out but the finished product is awesome and the possibilities are endless for these little things!

To learn how to make these awesome little doodads (yesh I did say that.) you can click
here

And if none of this amuses you... Maybe this will....

It's a connect the dot tattoo! Random? Yes.

Well I hope you all give some of this a try! Who knows... Maybe you'll like it!

Love you all!
