It's a craft that has been passed on from generation to generation.
From family member to family member.
From Grandmother to grandchild.
From mother to child.
From friend to friend.
From co-worker to co-worker.
It's just one of those things that is shared and bridges the gaps between age, race, gender, etc...
Well I want to pass it on and though I can't sit down and show everyone...
I can at least get it started!
Item #1 - "The Knitter's Handbook" This book is full of how tos and helpful tips for beginner knitters! It is full of illustrations to help explain what they have written!
Item #2- Knit Picks straight Harmony Needles size US 8. Though the picture doesn't show it too well these needles are smooth and multi-colored! I seriously squeed when I saw these bright colored needles because they kind of look like they have been tie dyed!
Item #3- Brushed Baby Alpaca yarn from Plymouth Yarn in a pretty baby blue. It is 80%baby alpaca wool and 20%acrylic and is approx. 110 yards. Super super soft and knits up beautifully!
So there ya have it!
How do you enter for the "Pass It Along Giveaway" drawing?
1. leave a comment on my blog (not on facebook) telling me why you want to learn how to knit or why you started knitting.
2.pass along this post by posting it onto your facebook page or blog to someone you think would like this giveaway and leave a comment (not on facebook) telling me where you posted it.
So you can have up to a total of 2 comments/entries which will up your chance of being randomly selected!
I hope that's understandable. Don't know how well I explain things sometimes. :)
The drawing will be done on Aug. 22nd (which is this upcoming Monday) and I will be doing a blog post with the results of who the lucky winner is!
Best of luck!
Love you ALL!
Caren
This is such a great give-away! Those needles and yarn are some of my favorites! I don't wish to enter this giveaway however, in the hopes that it all goes to a new and deserving knitter (and I already have some amazing Caren original items from a previous giveaway). I will be passing this link on though, on my facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Bina-T-Knits/121561841218077) and my blog (binatknits.wordpress.com) so I hope you have a lot of entries and the winner also passes on the gift of knitting to someone in their lives.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure whether I should say that I want to learn to knit, or relearn the basics since I never really got very good at it. I want to be able to bless my friends & family (and myself, truth be told) with pretty homemade knitted items like you do. Just watching you & others knit makes me want to do it too, even though my learning curve is clearly huge.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great giveaway. I'd love to learn to knit as I taught myself to crochet. It reminds me of my mom. I'd like to learn the patterns she mastered and fill my home and others' homes with handcrafted goods that are one of a kind. Seeing the smile of a recipient of a gift warms my heart and makes me want to continue.
ReplyDeleteI love the difference between knitting and crocheting and long to learn to knit!
ReplyDeleteI also shared this with my friend Cindy C on my FB page :)
ReplyDeleteKnitting as therapy?!?
ReplyDeleteI want to learn to knit for me. One reason is that I believe hobbies are good for the soul. I need a good, easy, fun, and rewarding hobby. I also believe that knitting may be the best therapy I can find for my RA. I'm sure that knitting therapy may extend past the physical and into the emotional and mental parts of me as well.
I would love to have something to do on cold winter evenings when I'm at home with my animals, warm cup of apple cider and a good movie. Knitting seems like the perfect addition.
I shared your page on Facebook and will tell my crocheting friend, Tonya, about this give-a-way. She would probably love to be involved.
Love you!
oooh lovely prize
ReplyDelete1. I started knitting because I wanted a super hardcore handknit skully sweater. I kept knitting because (shhh) i'm addicted.
2.I shared this on facebook with my fried lara
