Delivery Awesomeness

Hugs to UPS! Why?

Well.... They did me a mighty favor in a speedy delivery of my first batch of business cards!!!

WoooooHOOOO!

My handsome son asked to model them!

Sadly my camera doesn't focus too well on small print but at least you can see the cuteness that's holding it!

Gave away my first one last night! haha! So odd cause I've never had business cards before! But so fun cause I've never had business cards before!

Giveaway! Everyone gets one!

Well I must go. My husband has surprised me with a coffee drink from my favorite place. METRO COFFEE CO.

You can view THEIR facebook page below... http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Metro-Coffee-Co/142657991642

Love you all!

Think I'll go sit in my corner.

I live in an apartment and am hoping to someday expand our space by buying a house. But until then I have had to make due with the little (yet loved) home that I have. I know there are many people out there that have entire rooms dedicated to their love of crafting. I think even my own sister has claimed the dining room in her own house. But since we are limited in space and can't fork up a room... I have a designated corner. It was in the opposite corner of the apartment but decided that it would be nice to be able to view the t.v. while I worked away on my projects. So it's been moved and has been expanded by one printer stand! haha! Not to mention I have yarn stashed in little cubbies behind that little end cap, wall divider thingy. (Not sure what to call that thing). But there is something special about having my own "Knitting Corner". After getting married and having kids there isn't really any space that is considered just mine but I would have to say that this little corner is pretty darn close. :) So thankful to my husband for the sacrifice he has made!

Where do you craft/knit/crochet/scrapbook? Leave me a comment and tell me your favorite places to get crafty!

KniTAT

.
Tattoos can be a "controversial" thing and especially when it comes to WHAT is being tattooed on ones body... forever... as long as they are living... or still have that part of their body. But I as being a tattooed knitter obviously do not have a problem with them.
.
A good friend of mine and I have been visiting a lot lately about knitting tattoos. As we have sat and brained stormed ideas (for her mainly) I think she has decided on what she is wanting but as the responsible little lady that she is... she is putting much thought into and making sure that every little detail of what she is wanting is perfect and unchanged. But I couldn't help but wonder what other passionate knitters have had the idea of a "knitting tattoo". and so I googled it. I've only posted a few but thought they were unique. :)

.
The first one (on the arm) I thought was rather pretty due to the coloring. Although it seems rather large (which I'm sure it was intended to be) I like it!
The second one with the needles knitting the mitten.... I'm fond of and I thought it was rather creative! I love the coloring on it and thought the needles looked rather realistic (though I prefer wooden needles over metal) and the mitten is right on! It's even consistent in the amount of stitches! lol Of course I would notice that and I am sure other knitters would have too!
BUT
The third one I thought took the cake! Not that I would get that tattooed but seriously would have to say that is one piece of art! Who would have thought of that?! I mean really! Pure bad-awesomeness (In the words of my friend, Star).
.
I DO have a knitting tattoo but put much thought into it. Maybe someday I will get another one with a fancy ball of yarn or knitting needles but I am content with the little and simple one that I have.

In the first picture I am sure it is hard to see but it is that little red smudge on my collarbone. Below that picture is a closer look at it and it says "K2Tog". If you're a knitter you already know what that means and are very familiar with it but for those of you who don't know it means that when you knit you actually knit two separate stitches together to make them one. So "K2tog" means to "Knit 2 together". I wanted something that represented my love of knitting but also wanted something to represented my marriage. They say that when two get married they become one. Almost like we were knitted together. :) So glad I'm knitted to him!

I hope you all are ready for the weekend because it is just around the corner. All of you be safe please and I hope to check back in with you soon! Who knows... maybe some of you will have some new ink to show off! (or maybe a few ideas at least!)
Much love to you all!

Socks

Often times do I come across Sock yarn that I find just too wonderful to put on my feet.
After much searching online for a hat pattern that I found suiting for my treasure I decided that I would just write my own pattern. I feel like it was quite successful and thought that this would be a hat suitable to wear during the summer time even. There are some days when you just want a somewhat stylish way to protect your head! And I personally am a fan of slouch hats/berets so how perfect would it be that I write a pattern for such a style.
For my knitting friends... I shall share it with you! :)
.
Summer Sock Slouch:
.
Needles: Size 5us, 16" circulars and 5us DPN's
Yarn: estimated 180 yards of sock weight yarn.
(I used Schoppel Wolle Ambiente. I used the entire skein which has approx. 170 yards and ended up using a little bit from a second skein.)
.
CO 120 (or for a fit that's a tad more snug... 108)
Join in Round and place marker.
.
*K1,P1* and repeat to end of round.
Continue the K1P1 rib till your piece measures 2 inches from CO edge.
Work the rest of your rows in stockinette till you measures 6 1/2 inches from the CO edge. (Or 7 inches for a little extra slouchiness)
.
Decrease Rows:
1: K10, K2tog -repeat to end of round
2: Knit All
3: K9, K2tog- repeat to end of round
4: Knit All
5: K8, K2tog- repeat to end of round
6: Knit All
7: K7, K2tog-repeat to end of round
8: Knit All
9: K6, K2tog- repeat to end of round
10: Knit All - (Personal note- this was about the time I switched to my dpn's)
11: K5, K2tog- repeat to end of round
12: Knit All
13: K4, K2tog- repeat to end of round
14: Knit All
15: K3, K2tog- repeat to end of round
16: Knit All
17: K2, K2tog- repeat to end of round
18: Knit All
19: K1, K2tog- repeat to end of round
20: K2tog- repeat to end of round
.
Break yarn and pull through remaining stitches. Pull tight and secure. Weave in and loose ends and wear! I didn't block this hat because the sock yarn drapes nicely on its own. :)
.

PROGRESS ON MY ETSY SHOP!
I have yet to post anything on my shop but am anticipating that I will be doing that this weekend. This week I have been working on writing out my policy for my shop and the items I sell as well as trying to determine a proper time frame in which I can make and ship out my items without causing much damage to my wrists.
But once I have it completely up and running you will be able to find me at the following etsy website:
.
Well I have a baby ready to get out of her jumperoo and another munchkin ready for breakfast! Will be writing again soon!
Thanks to everyone!

A time to give

So my sister writes a blog of her own ( http://heberteveryday.wordpress.com/ ) and not too long ago she posted about a fundraiser for a family in need. If you live in Casper, Wy or close to you may have heard about the tragic accident on the slopes of Hogadon where a snowboarder colided with a mother and daughter that were stopped on the run. The snowboarder and the little girl did not make it and the mother was left in critical condition. The mother, Kelli Johnson and her husband, Chauncy Johnson attended high school with my sister and their daughter Elise Johnson went to my nephew's school as well and so this seemed to hit home for her. In her blog she had posted a couple of links to get the word out about a fundraiser that is being held for the Johnson family on April 2nd in Sheridan, Wyoming.

And to donate or find out how you may be able to help you can read the Johnson family blog

I'm asking for your help to get the word out of this fundraiser and to please find a way to give back to a family in need.

I knitted something for the event which is the cowl pictured in this posting. It's named "Elise's spring cowl". It is knitted out of 100% Alpaca and is incredibly soft. I think it would look super cute with a jean jacket but that's just me. :)
Please feel free to share this blog (and/or my sisters)! Love you all and have a blessed day!

A new beginning

Hi, My name is Caren and I am a knitter!

Upon popular demand and requests I decided to start some what of a knitting "business" and will soon be openning an etsy shop. But I figured that while I get that set up I would approach other avenues of getting the word out of my little business. So far I have made for friends and family and if that's all I ever do I will be happy. Let me share a little bit about myself.

I'm a mostly stay at home mother of two kids with a part time job as a beginners knitting instructor. I first learned how to knit two years ago at a local yarn store all because my wonderful husband bought me lessons. :) In my journey as a knitter I am always learning and as I grow in my knowledge I am hoping to design more complicated patterns which maybe one day I may sell. Most of the patterns that I knit now are personaly modified versions of others to accomodate different styles and personal preferences.

The purpose of this blog is just a way to connect. I'll post things that I've recently knitted, share with you my favorite patterns, and hopefully share with you new things I've learned and experienced through this journey!

A big thanks goes out to my sister, Carrie, for her incredible enouragement and support to do this as well as my Momma. Also, a thanks to my friends and aquaintances for your interest in my knitted fun-ness! *hugs* to you all!

Well, as we all know... responsibility is calling (or crying in my case. haha). Thanks for taking the time to read this! Love you all!
